Challenge

The Parklife tour is the largest music tour in Australia with the worlds biggest DJs, bands and artists coming together for 5 weeks in a travelling sideshow to tour 6 Australian cities. The tour provides fun for over 250’000 revellers who get in quick for the sold out events.

Knowing our consumers were hungry for behind the scenes content, information about side gigs, and an up-close-and-personal insight into the lives of the artists, we needed to connect with bands followers and drive them to the Fuzzy summer events website by packaging and distributing unique content pre, during and post-event.

Solution

A dedicated a 5-man roving film crew, plus producers and video bloggers filmed the full tour itinerary of action for ‘Fuzzy Vision', a dedicated YouTube channel, and for video partner portals on Channel V and JJJ. Weaved into the live music festival mini-documentary were stunts including a competition where fans were invited submit videos to win a seat on the tour bus and be a star in the show with their very own Production 'Crew' internship, ad-hoc artist-on-artist interviews, impromptu performances, a 'DJs vs Rock Bands' football competition, and the ‘Parkilfe Party Crash’ where we surprised a fan by rocking up with the worlds biggest DJs and a film crew to crash their Friday night house party and play the night away.

Results

Along with filming the behind the scenes digital content, we also packaged mini-documentaries with performances by Groove Armada (inc. their final farewell performance), Public Enemy, Armand Van Helden and A-Trak of ‘Duck Sauce’, Missy Elliot, David Guetta, Empire of the Sun and more, with all video and motion graphics content, stop motion animations, TV promos and big-screen VJ visuals behind bands on stage being produced as part of the agency project.
